Giovanni Rey
Previously a road, mountain bike and cyclocross racer, Giovanni has been coaching and riding on his home track (Hellyer Velodrome) in San Jose, California since 1998. An avid traveler, Gio has visited, ridden on, raced, and won at over 25 velodromes in the past three years. His technical expertise as a software engineer during the day translates perfectly to his career as a track cyclist, creating the ideal combination of tenacity, attention to detail and precision handling that earn him top ten finish after finish.
While his sprint expertise rounds-out the Black Dog team, it’s Giovanni’s incredible versatility as a cyclist that sets him apart, helping the team leave a distinct mark in all the events and tournaments in which they compete throughout the season.
Fun Trivia: in 2008, Gio won a US Master’s National Championship but on principle, refuses to wear the stars and stripes on his sleeves on his collar since it was not an elite title. How cool is that?
