Ryan Luttrell
Ryan grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado and began his career as a track cyclist at the age of 16 at his local velodrome. While racing for a local club (Eastside Wheelmen) for two years, Ryan won multiple Junior National Championships.
At the age of 18, Ryan was signed by Jonathan Vaughters’ original developmental cycling team 5280/Subaru. This team later turned into TIAA-CREF, then Slipsteam Chipotle and is now the pro tour team Garmin-Transitions. Under the mentorship of experienced pros like Vaughters and Colby Pearce, Ryan was introduced to road racing.
When he turned 21, Ryan returned to his roots as a track cyclist and signed his first professional contract with Spike Professional Cycling (now Cody Cycling). Spike and Cody, both UCI track trade teams, provided the international exposure needed to become an elite track cyclist. In 2009, Ryan left Cody Racing to join Black Dog, which has proved to be the perfect match to continue his development as a professional cyclist.
Fun Trivia: The chainrings and cogs that Ryan races with used to belong to his mother when she raced on the velodrome.
